Hi,

I was wondering if in a future release we can have the option to turn on or off the abilitiy to make new News postings flash like the flashing 'Loading...' text when you first enter the admin section, or have the option to change it to a different colour based on a date system, i.e changing back to a default colour after expiring.

I would like my users to know something has changed in this region of the page. Even though most of our users read the posts, they generally say they notice it 1-2 days after being posted.

I do currently use the font tag to change the heading, but I'd like to change the whole line of text.

Cheers

Unless you'd really like to upset your customers, blinking text is REALLY not a good idea. A larger font to begin with and/or some color will help it stand out.

However, even if you set news on a separate page that came up when you logged in to your CPANEL and force customers to click a button saying "Yes, I read and understood this" in order to get to the main CPANEL page, you still can't be sure people will read what you have to say no matter how important you try to tell them it is.

Besides, not everyone logs into their CPANEL every day. If you have info they need to know right now, you'll need to e-mail all clients about it... and you STILL can't be sure they will check their e-mails or read it even if they do.

A work a round would be to add an image before your news; say an animated "New, What's New"? Get fancy with a free gif animated program and create the date and have it flashing... That's it, problem solved... (I'm assuming of course that you could add html to the news) wink.gif

Hi Aric,

I see your point about not logging in everyday, but my clients have no choice, it's the only way they can get to all the other applications we run like the forums, billing, and other goodies we provide.

Everything is run from the main control panel and the only way to authenticate yourself is to login to cpanel and then move between the applications.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your suggestion, I think I'll try that.

I am going to close this request as current news sytem has a full page news showing on the end-user cPanel. When user access to cPanel and do not read the news, it will show as full page until they click 'I read it' button. Other requests relating to the news system please create new post on this forum.
